Eye Conditions Caused by Diabetics

We all understand how important our eye sight is for us. Without being able to see, we would not have been able to achieve most of the things we have accomplished up to date. But with age our eye sight may not remain as good as it was in the beginning. Any eye clinic in Dubai recommends a regular eye check to be able to identify any issues early at which stage treatments can easily be carried out.
Sometimes eye conditions may be caused because of other health issues like diabetics. Any eye surgeon in Dubai would have handled a cataract surgery. Sometimes cataract eye conditions are also caused by diabetes.
Ebsaar is a well know eye surgery center in Dubai which has handled many diabetics related eye conditions in Dubai. Commonly the blood vessels in the eyes get damaged when the level of blood sugar goes high above the normal level. This leads to retinopathy, the longer an individual has diabetics the more likely he or she is to get this condition.
If the condition is left untreated it can lead to the growth of new blood vessels over the retina. This can lead to the development of scar tissue, which will pull the retina of the eye away. This condition (retinal detachment) can eventually lead to blindness which even Eye surgery in Dubai may not be able to rectify 100%.
Another eye condition known as glaucoma can also be caused as a cause of diabetics when any blood vessels start to grown on the eye iris. Research has shown that it is 25 times more likely for patients with diabetics to lose their vision than those without diabetics.
Diabetic retinopathy is a common condition among many diabetic patients, but not all would be faced with this eye condition. This may not show any early symptoms and you may not see any changes in the vision initially, but once it develops it can lead to be complete blindness. One of the early symptoms would be floaters. Difficulties in reading and having to look at the book or screen very closely can also be early symptoms of fluid build-up in the retina.
If you or one of your family members has diabetics consult your eye doctor today for a check-up and early diagnosis.

All about Detached Retina

Ebsaar is one eye clinic in Dubai which provides all eye care solutions under one roof. With the increasing risks to the eyes in the recent years related to environmental pollutions and use of modern devices from young ages the eye surgeon in Dubai have had to deal with new cases which were very rare in the past years.
Eye surgery in Dubai have advanced with new technology and many procedures are carried out within a day as outpatient procedures. Many serious eye conditions can be prevented with regular checkups and early detection.
Detached Retina is a common condition which may require Eye surgery in UAE. As the name of the condition clearly mentions it is when the retina is pulled away from the back of the eye which is its normal position. Retina plays the key role in sending visual images through the optic nerve to the brain. If the retina is detached the vision can get blurred. Unless it is treated it can lead to blindness. Symptoms of a pulled retina are flashing lights, veil or grey curtain moving across the vision, floaters, etc. These symptoms can be cause of some other reason, but it is advised to seek the consult of a ophthalmologist to confirm.
This condition can be caused with age. The eyes are filled with a collagen clear gel known as vitreous between the lens and the retina. The vitreous usually pulls away from the retina with no issue. But with age when it tries to pull away it may pull too hard and cause a tear in the retina which can lead to retinal detachment. Fluid then could pass in by the retinal tear and completely pull away the retina from the back.
There are many conditions that can lead to retinal detachment. Glaucoma, nearsightedness, trauma, family history, cataract surgery are few of the common reasons. If it is diagnosed early when it is only a tear in the retina it can be treated by laser treatment or by cryotherapy treatment which will help to set the retina back in the eye. These treatments generally cause no discomfort. If the retina is totally detached surgery may be required to return it to its place at the back of the eye.
If you like to learn more about retinal detachment or if you are at high risk contact your ophthalmologist today for a check-up.

LASIK Dubai

Dr. Hani Sakla is a qualified and experienced ophthalmologist who conducts LASIK surgery in Dubai at Ebsaar Eye Surgery and Vision Correction Solution. Ebsaar is clinic dedicated eye and vision care hospital staffed by UAE’s best eye doctors, eye care optometrists, and opticians. We offer the full range of eye care services, allowing every patient the comfort and security in knowing they are in the best hands.

LASIK Surgery Dubai is one of our prime eye care treatments offered by this clinic. LASIK is a revolutionary eye surgery that re-adjusts your vision reversing the damage that generally occurs while you age. The eyes do not have a standard timeline for how long they are able to help you see clearly, and when they start depreciating. In most cases, and even in families, a parent may notice depreciating vision at the age of 40, whilst the same may occur to the 10 year old son. Your eyes are quite the delicate part of your sensory system, and the location of the eyes means they are susceptible to strain and environmental damage. It is no surprise then that the sun’s UV rays and regular viewing of screens and monitors physically alters the soft surfaces of the eyes, changing the way you see.

Each part of the eye is soft and mostly rounded to refract light from your environment. The cornea, which lies right in the front and is the clear dome shaped section in the front, can lose its smooth surface distorting your vision. This is where LASIK treatment Dubai can help. LASIK Dubai aims to return the corneal surface to its original shape by removing the miniature bumps and ridges that may have formed over time. The results of LASIK can vary, but about nine of 10 patients report a complete return of vision.

Like any surgery, LASIK surgery begins like any other surgery, with anesthesia. In the case of LASIK, you will be given numbing eye drops, which will take effect almost immediately. Your eye surgeon will give it some time before beginning, which is generally around 15 minutes. Once the eye drops have taken effect, your eye surgeon will use soft speculum hold your eye lids apart, and stop them from blinking. This will not cause you any pain at all, and you should be quite comfortable during the surgery.

The next step will have your eye doctor, removing the soft protective flap from over the cornea. The flap is much like clear skin, protecting your eyes from dust and germs. Removing the flap will expose the cornea which is the area that your doctor will surgically alter to improve vision.

The surgery is done using computer precision allowing your eye surgeon to remove a specified number of cells from the surface of the cornea. The computer aided LASIK tip is capable of restoring your vision to 90% of accuracy. Once the cornea is reshaped, the flap will be replaced after a gentle eye wash. The flap heals on its own, and the entire procedure only takes about 30 minutes.

Your eyes will feel red and irritated immediately, and it is best that you take the day off to rest your eyes for at least two days. You will be able to function with limited vision the very next day, and your vision will continue to improve in the days/weeks to come. You will need follow up visits with your eye surgeon regularly to ensure your eye is healing correctly and vision is returning correctly.

LASIK Treatment UAE has come a long way in helping to improve the lives of residents by reshaping, and restoring lost vision. Your eyes and sight are the most precious sensory stimulant you are blessed with, and we are here to ensure that you receive only the best vision care in Dubai.

Keratoconus Dubai

Keratoconus Dubai is quite a serious eye disorder that affects one in 2000 individuals. The condition progresses in both eyes for about 96% of Keratoconus patients. The condition is a disease of the cornea, which leads it to swell up and bulge disproportionately causing visual disturbances in the central section of your vision. Keratoconus is a physical change in the cornea that can be corrected with the use of rigid contact lenses during the early stages of the condition that may help to reduce the progression of the disease.

The true cause for Keratoconus is not known, although it is seen to run in families, no genetic link has yet been found to connect the disease to specific causes. Some scientists claim that the condition is more visible in those patients with chronic eye rubbing directly damaging the structure of the cornea.

Keratoconus starts when the fibres in the eye called collagen the same ones found on skin weaken. The weakened collagen, which really are protein fibres start to bulge unable to hold the shape of the cornea. The bulge starts from the centre, changing the cornea from a dome shape to cone shaped over the years. The condition usually starts in teenagers and can progress very quickly and halt or it may progress slowly over many decades.

The condition like any other condition affects your sight, and the first signs of the condition are usually floaters, blurred far vision, and patients do feel the bulge. It is almost impossible for people with Keratoconus to see objects without distortion, and would therefore need specially made eyeglasses or rigid contact lenses to force the bulge back into place.

The symptoms that are easily noticeable during an eye examination or even when the disease starts would be a sudden change in the equality of your vision. A patient will experience double or even triple ghost images, and will be unable to make out objects or faces at all during the latter stages of Keratoconus.

Keratoconus is a dangerous to anyone’s vision, and in most severe cases, a corneal transplant will be required to restore your vision. Keratoconus has varying degrees of progression that has to be monitored right from the start to decide on an appropriate course of action. Eye Surgery UAE may be a requirement to stop the disease from progressing further. Corneal Transplants would be the best treatment for a bulging cornea, as the corneal change that takes place is a physical change caused by weakening of the protein fibres; the only viable and effective treatment is to perform a corneal transplant.

Contact Lenses

For those of people who have vision problems, wearing prescription glasses is sometimes not a suitable option for aesthetic and functional reasons. Reading glasses can be uncomfortable, and keep track of them is a hassle. This is why many people opt for contact lenses as a treatment to improve sight. At first wearing contact lenses might be difficult, but once you use them a few times, they are easy, convenient, and you won’t even know they’re there.

Contact lenses are small flexible plastic disks that cover the entire surface of the cornea right over the lens. Many people use contact lenses for cosmetic purposes to change the colour of their eyes, and some others use them to give them sharper vision even when their vision is perfectly normal. However, most people who wear contact lenses use them to help with near and farsightedness.

As contact lenses stick to the eye, they provide a natural field of vision, rather than a pair of eyeglasses would be able to. This is why although eyeglasses help you see better, over time eyestrain becomes an evident side effect.

Contact lenses provide for better vision than eye glasses do, and they are more effective in maintaining your current vision. If someone has a refractive error, either where the light is not reflected on to retina correctly, light can be struck either above the centre or below, making your vision blurry or grainy. Contact lenses stick to the cornea using the tear fluid, and eyelid pressure. Blinking keeps contact lenses clean as it would your natural cornea and therefore you are able to keep them on for about 8 hours of the day without a problem.

There are various types of contact lenses, which help in both types vision problems, including presbyopia which is problem of both near and farsightedness.

concentric bifocal lens is able to correct near and farsightedness with a single lens. The lenses are generally separated into two sections, where the centre is responsible for either one of the problems and the outer circle helps with the other.

translating lens is similar to bifocal lenses, but the instead of circular sections, its instead separated into the top and bottom sections that help with both types of sight.

An aspheric lens places both the nearsightedness and farsightedness at the centre of the lens to allow for a more balanced vision.

In addition to lenses helping with your sight, lenses are prepared for different functional purposes. There are disposable contact lenses, daily use lenses, extended wear lenses, ultra-violet protection lenses, colour tinted lenses for cosmetic uses and even super lenses meant for use by athletes who require sharp vision to play in the field.

Ebsaar Eye Surgery Centre is vision-testing centre in Dubai that is able to offer all grades of contact lenses to fit your vision needs and functional use. For depleting vision, make an appointment to meet our ophthalmologist or optometrist and get the right type contact lens to restore vision.
