Best Eye Clinic Offering LASIK Treatment in Dubai

LASIK as it's commonly known, stands for laser in-situ keratomileusis, and is a safe and popular surgery that is used to correct vision in individuals who are nearsighted, farsighted, or have astigmatism. Research report says that, around 96% of patients will have their desired vision after LASIK treatment.

All LASIK Treatment in Dubai, work by reshaping the cornea, the clear front part of the eye, so that light traveling through it is properly focused onto the retina located in the back of the eye. LASIK is one of a number of different surgical techniques used to reshape the cornea. However, before embarking on the treatment, one final decision needs to be made and that is choosing a well experienced LASIK Eye Surgeon in Dubai.

Choosing a good LASIK eye surgeon

Settling on a LASIK eye surgeon is one of the most important health care decisions a patient will ever make, so it's best to consider all the factors before choosing a particular eye surgeon. The first thing to do is to look for an Eye Surgery in Dubai with a reputation for patient satisfaction and for an experienced and board-certified surgeon. Thereafter, once the search is narrowed down, make your selection, talk to family and  friends or co-workers who have used the eye clinic and look for patients' reviews via the Internet, and request for patient testimonials by visiting the eye surgery.

Most patients focus on the cost of LASIK treatment than the eye surgeon who is actually performing the procedure. Don't bargain shop with something as important as this, it's not like shopping for a new purse or an outfit, eye care is priceless. Even if it's costly it can save money in the long run and most importantly your vision.

Not all LASIK eye surgery centers and LASIK eye surgeons are the same. The following checklist can help determine which LASIK surgery is the best,

·         Hygiene and cleanliness - A reputable eye surgery will be clean and hygienic.

·         Equipment -A good eye surgery will use the latest technology in terms of eye care. Is there a choice that is offered with the eye surgery? Make sure to go over all these questions with the eye surgeon.

·         Professionalism and friendly staff -From the office staff to the eye surgeon, the eye clinic's staff and their demeanor speak volumes. Most eye clinics work together with the patient to make sure that the treatment options go smoothly.

·         Relationship with the eye surgeon - Build a cordial and smooth relationship with the surgeon, and make sure to follow all pre and post surgery instructions to make sure that the treatment is a success. The fact remains that LASIK has a 95% success rate, which is one of the highest success rates of any operation, when performed by an experienced eye surgeon.

·         Future treatment - The result of LASIK can vary from patient to patient, therefore there may be certain enhancements that will be needed from time to time. Even with successful surgery, future enhancements may be needed, or patient's may require eye glasses for activities such as reading or driving. Also, farsighted patients may experience deteriorating vision over time as part of the natural aging process. Even patients who cannot achieve 20/20 vision through LASIK will usually enjoy at least 20/40 vision after the procedure.

Invest in time and make sure to find the right Eye Clinic in Dubai as its a decision that will pay dividends in improving vision for years to come.

The Ebsaar Eye Surgery Center is a full fledged eye clinic specializing in Lasik and Cataract surgeries. The Clinic's founder, internationally acclaimed eye surgeon Dr. Hani Sakla, is a third generation ophthalmologist. The Clinic is home to the latest diagnostic and surgical equipments and the eye surgeons possess international experience of more than 30 years and have been involved in the development of Lasik and Cataract surgical treatments in many countries around the world.

It Is Possible to Have LASIK on Both Eyes?

LASIK treatment in Dubai on both eyes at the same time is referred to as “Bilateral Simultaneous LASIK”. Despite the cost of LASIK, being quite reasonable, the question remains, if the patient is ready for the surgery and can LASIK be performed on both eyes at the same time. Bilateral simultaneous LASIK is a good choice and has many benefits such as being cost effective and reducing the total medical cost, cuts post-operative recovery time in half, which gives the patient less time to take-off work and eliminates the need for the patients to use contact lenses on a temporary basis in one eye between surgeries.

The Eye Surgeon in Dubai suggests that patients should wait between surgeries for LASIK in Dubai, due to various factors such as the potential risks, which is limited to a small percentage of patients, which causes a shadow and tends to outweigh the positive factors of having LASIK performed on both eyes at the same time. The main reason this is recommended is so that the eye surgeon can determine how the patient's eye reacts to the surgery, whether it was a success or not (there is a chance that LASIK is not successful on a ratio of  one-in-a-million patients) and if the eye over responded to the treatment and turned nearsightedness into farsightedness.

If there is an infection in one eye during surgery, it can spread to the other eye as the surgeon will use the same microkeratome and blade in both eyes. This makes it complicated for the eye to heal, which makes it better to have one eye treated first so that the surgeon can learn a lot from the first surgery, which can help when the treatment is carried out to the other eye and improve the patient's level of comfort post surgery. What patients much remember is that there are many risks during the post-operative period, when the eye surgeon is not monitoring the patient 24/7.

The Eye Surgery in Dubai will also address the issue of temporary sight reduction. Having both eyes done simultaneously, means the patient will not be not be able to see clearly, which is often a short-term side-effect, and an annoying one. But it poses a safety threat to the patient. Ultimately, the patient and the surgeon must both consider whether or not to have LASIK on both eyes, subjecting both eyes to potential complications or vision loss at the same time, despite the minimum risk involved. LASIK treatment as opposed to many years ago, is now a safe and an effective treatment, due to technological advances and newest tools and methods being introduced.

The eye surgeon's opinion and the patient's eye health will be the decisive factor how and when, or even if the patient can proceed with LASIK surgery, to being with. There is a lot of “what ifs” to think about and consider. So make sure to have all your questions and queries answered so that you're comfortable with the treatment and do what is right, your eyes deserve it!

What You Need to Know About Blepharitis

Blepharitis in Dubai is a common condition that is caused by an inflammation of the edges of the eyelids and presents ophthalmologists with many challenges. Eventhough this is a common condition among many patients worldwide, it is a condition that is largely misdiagnosed. Blepharitis is not  infectious and can affect individuals of all ages. This condition does not pose a threat to an individual's vision, but it can be uncomfortable and can prevent an individual from having a good quality of life, as it is a recurring condition.

The signs and symptoms of this eye condition include,

Red, bleary, crusted, scaly and inflamed eyelids

Puffy eyes that itch and burn

Crusting around the eyelids

A gritty sensation like something small is in the eye

Often patients at the Eye Clinic in Dubai complain that they felt that their eyes gave others the impression that they were suffering from depression, emotional problems and alcohol or drug abuse, which causes a patient to be misunderstood and has a negative impact on their relationships, social and professional interactions.

The Eye Surgeon in Dubai explains that from a clinical point of view blepharitis can affect a potential treatment plan and compound co-existing conditions. Blepharitis is the main culprit of evaporative dry eye, chalazia formation, loss of cilia, and also corneal neovascularization and ulceration. When blepharitis is neglected it can lead to serious surgical complications, slow visual recovery, decreased and fluctuating vision, and endophthalmitis. This can be a challenge for the eye surgeon as proper diagnosis and treatment is important.

Diagnosis

Diagnosing blepharitis is no easy task as mentioned before, as many patients and eye surgeons will simply glance at the eyelids at a routine eye exam or concentrate on the intraocular pathology that is present. At the same time the presence of this condition must not be ignored. According to the Eye Surgery in Dubai, a few routine questions can help eye surgeons to identify blepharitis and differentiate it from common symptoms that is commonly found with patient's who have dry eye syndrome. Since, blepharitis and dry eye syndrome display unique diurnal patterns, checking with the patients what time of day their symptoms peak can confirm the diagnosis.

Treatment options

Treatment depends on the severity of each patient's condition. Some of the conventional treatment options for blepharitis, include eyelid hygiene and warm compresses, with gentle lid cleaning and eyelid massage, which improves the symptoms. However, the best treatment option is to follow these measures along with a topical antibiotic to address both the infectious and inflammatory aspects of the disease. It will take between 4-6 weeks for the treatment to be effective, so perseverance is essential. Patients should not rub their eyelids as this may make the inflammation worse. Chronic blepharitis can take weeks or months to manage.

Keeping eyelids clean and hygienic is important, patients who suffer from blepharitis should avoid using makeup as it makes it difficult to practice good eye health.

What You Need to Know About Lazy Eye

Amblyopia, is a condition that is known as lazy eye. It is a common eye condition or a developmental disorder where the eye fails to achieve normal visual acuity. This condition cannot be corrected by eyeglasses or contact lenses. When lazy eyes are not treated appropriately, it can result in severe visual disability, which could even lead to blindness in the affected eye.

Lazy eye is the most common cause of sight impairment in infancy, and since it develops in infancy its difficult to detect. Therefore, early detection and the quicker the diagnosis is made, the patient can start on treatment, which increases the chances of vision correction and restoration. Also, treatment that is administered early usually works faster and more effectively for young patients.

Therefore, the Eye Clinic in Dubai recommends that parents should have their child’s vision checked early on in development, and that should receive a complete eye examination at six months and again once the child turns three years.

Amblyopia or lazy eye develops when the eyes and the visual system do not function in unison. The Eye Surgery in Dubai identifies the most common cause as, an imbalance in the location of the eyes (strabismus). This condition causes the eyes to cross in or turn out, making it impossible to work together. Lazy eye can also be caused by a condition where one eye is more nearsighted, farsighted, or astigmatic than the other eye. This is the result of a condition called anisometropia. Sometimes, lazy eye is a result of other optical diseases such as cataracts or other conditions of vision impairment.

What are the treatment options for Amblyopia?

Amblyopia is treated by restoring optimal vision in both eyes. Therefore, the best option is to use prescription lenses, which is the most common approach that is used to strengthen the weaker eye. There are a number of treatments that can be used to  by restraining the use of the stronger eye. There are a number of options to obstruct the better eye, and treatment is prescribed depending on the patient's situation and the decision of the Eye Surgeon.

Most often the good eye is patched and the patient will wear something similar to a 'pirate patch'. The patient is then required to use the weak eye, which promotes good sight in the underdeveloped eye and helps the visual system in the brain develop more completely. However, the success of this treatment with patching will depend on compliance of the patient to wear the patch, something that is not very easily accomplished with younger patients.

Sometimes the eye surgeon will use atropine, where the eye drops will be used on the good eye to temporarily impair the vision and encourage the patient to use the weak eye.

There are instances, in rare cases  where the patient's vision can be improved by vision aides only, such as prescription glasses or contact lenses that will restore vision to each eye. Also, vision therapy to train the eyes to work together may also require certain surgical procedures.

Since, lazy eye is a consequence of a disruption in the visual process, the younger the patient is treated the higher the success rate of the treatment. However, there are many success stories, where teenage patients complete a successful treatment.

Some of the symptoms and signs of lazy eye in children include, crossed eyes or some other apparent eye misalignment and crying or  fussing when one eye is covered.  Therefore, if you suspect that your child has amblyopia, make sure to schedule an appointment for testing and treatment for lazy eye.

Signs Your Vision Has Changed

If there is one thing in life that we can always count on it is the 'winds of change', that comes with each passing year and time. Depending on your experience and disposition, you are more likely to have experienced change with some degree of apprehension or pure joy, but either way change is inevitable. So how does one deal with change and what is this change?. How about the change in your vision. This can cause concern and can be a frightening time and experience for some and for  others, it can go unnoticed resulting in new experiences they would rather not have, explains an Eye Surgeon Dubai.
To help you steer an otherwise intimidating landscape, here are a few tips presented by the Eye Surgery Dubai  to keep you balanced and happy. Some of the signs that your visions has change includes,
  • Losing focus - One of the most common age-related vision changes are known as presbyopia. It could happen anyone between the ages of 40 and 50. A natural result of aging, the lens begins to lose elasticity, making it harder to focus vision up close for activities such as reading. Most often, presbyopia can be corrected easily with reading glasses or glasses with bifocal, trifocal or progressive lenses.`
  • Reducing sensitivity - With age the lens of the eye becomes increasingly dense and more yellow. These changes may affect color perception and contrast sensitivity. For instance, the color blue may appear darker and more difficult to distinguish from the color black. This will make it difficult to spot the curbs or steps.
  • Need more light to see - As the eye ages, the pupil gets smaller, resulting in the need for more light to see well, along with more time to adjust to changing levels of illumination
There is good news for all those individuals who are experiencing any of the following symptoms, its normal and it can be treated. What one must remember is that change in vision does not mean nor does it mean that the end result is vision loss. The best way to make sure you keep your vision and promote eye health is too,
  • Schedule and keep a routine eye appointment with your Eye Surgery UAE. Just like most of your other healthcare concerns, vision is as equally important as visiting your family doctor or
  • Exercise regularly and monitor your blood pressure. For most of us a daily or weekly routine for exercise does the body good. One of the early signs that the vision has changes is changes in the blood pressure and a great way of maintaining optimal health is to exercise regularly.
  • Guard your eyes from the sun. Avoid gazing directly at the sun, given the effects of UV rays, our eyes are very sensitive and require attention to detail. So make sure to grab your shades every time you walk out of the door.
  • Protect your eyes always. In the event of any injury, it can affect your vision, so make sure to wear protective eye gear when you are at higher risk for eye injury.
  • Consult your doctor when taking supplements. It's important to consult your family doctor or the local, Eye Clinic in Dubai  when taking supplements to know of any side-effects that may occur to your body system.

OptiLASIK Laser is the Future of Eye Care

Eyes are an important part of the body for many. For people who have had the blessing of seeing the world from birth, would not be able to imagine living without their eyesight. From seeing the beautiful world around us, to reading to gain knowledge and to even avoid potential dangerous situations, one cannot imagine living with their eyesight says the  Eye Surgery Center Dubai
But with age, eyesight problems that develop, becomes unavoidable. Corrective measures need to be taken by many people at some point in their lives to maintain their eyesight. Many treatments undertaken may never give back a person's eyesight as it was before, but for many something is always better than nothing, especially when it comes to something as important as eyesight.
Eye Surgery Dubai is well known for their vision correction solutions. Being a fully equipped clinic, they specialize in surgical procedures for preserving eye sight. They  are proud of their team of doctors with more than 3 decades of experience who have been a part of the development of cataract and LASIK Surgery in Dubai. They understand the importance of this delicate body part better than anyone else and strive to provide the best care possible for the clients.
The experts at the Clinic, always rely on the best technologies to treat their patients.  OptiLASIK UAE is the newest technology which can be used to treat many disorders in the eyes. In the past, LASIK, which stands for Laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis was the same for everyone, even though each ones eye's are unique.  It is known as a refractive surgery done by using laser and has proven results in correcting hyperopia, astigmatism and myopia.  This treatment provided by the Ebsaar team is similar to the surgical treatments carried out for corrective measures like keratectomy and photorefractive. But this method allows patients to recover faster. LASIK is a surgical treatment, used to correct vision problems and allows patients to maintain a good eyesight without corrective contact lenses or eyeglasses. A technique which was first introduced around the 1950s now have greatly improved and provides more reliable results thanks to new technologies like larger spot areas, faster lasers, flap incisions without blades, intraoperative pachymetry, etc. However, LASIK will simply corrected your vision based on your current glasses or contact lens prescription and it may not be suitable for all. All candidates are taken through a series of questions and tests to analyze if they are suitable for the treatment.
However, OptiLASIK is much more advanced than that. It uses the innovative diagnostic technology of the Allegretto Wave® Eye-Q Laser System to create a detailed “map” of the patient's eyes. By using this map the eye surgeon is able to personalize the LASIK procedure for the best results, quickly and safely. And because OptiLASIK is so precise and accurate, it paves the way for many people with myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism, who were not previously eligible for LASIK. The OptiLASIK treatment has been used successfully on many patient's and is a safe treatment option.

Eye Safe Toys For Children Of All Ages

The Eye Surgeon in Dubai explains, that from the time a person is born, they learn to see.  Just like a child learns how to walk, their brain must learn how to use their eyes to see and develop the visual skills necessary to succeed in everyday activities like playing sports, reading books, and completing everyday school activities. Parents, and Santa Claus, can help their child develop and improve their important visual  and learning skills through toys, games, and activities.
Below are some tips to remember when toy shopping for children of various ages, this season,
0 to  5 months of age - Infants enjoy bright colors, shapes, and varied textures. Make sure not to buy toys that include small pieces, as they  are dangerous and soft stuffed toys may pose some danger for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Some of the toys that are recommended by Eye Clinic in Dubai and is enjoyed by many children are, sturdy crib mobiles and gyms, bright large rattles, rubber squeak toys and soft picture books.
6 - 8 months of age - Children in this age group loves bright, busy, and musical toys that encourage eye-hand coordination. Some of the recommended toys include, stuffed animals, floating bath toys and toys ideal for playing peek-a-boo.
9 - 12 months of age - Children of this age will like and enjoy toys and activities that help to increase general eye movement and hand-eye coordination. The Eye Surgery in UAE suggests parents buy toys such as sturdy cardboard books, take-apart toys without harp corners, snap-lock beads, building blocks and stacking or nesting toys. Basically toys that can be challenging and offer problems solving techniques.
1 year olds - At this age a child’s hand-eye coordination still continues to improve. At this age children can now judge distances fairly well and throw things with some precision, so opt for gifts such as bright balls, blocks, toys with zippers and mirrors, rocking horses and riding toys that the child can push with their feet.
2 year olds - At his age children love mimicking adults, in play and physical activities so toys should be much advanced at this point. The Eye Surgery in Dubai suggests toys such as thick pencils with a slightly blunt points, large markers and crayons, bean bags, peg hammering toys, sorting games and puzzle blocks, that has not sharp edges or points.
3 - 6 year olds - Children in this age group love activities and toys that require plenty of visual skills required for reading, writing, sports, and memory skills. The ideal toys for children of this age are, building toys with large snap-together pieces, stringing beads, puzzles, pegboard crayons, finger paints, chalk, large balls, modelling clay, simple sewing cards, bicycles, sticker books and games.
7 years and older - Computer learning programs and handheld computer games can be useful at these age. but they do require careful parental supervision to prevent potential adverse effects to the eyes,  caused by extensive periods of play on small screens. If your child experiences difficulty viewing  small computer screens, an eye exam is recommended to rule out vision problems. Encourage the child to play outdoors as well with jump ropes, pogo sticks, roller skates and remote controlled toys.

About Lazy Eyes

The Eye Surgeon in Dubai explains that the most important factor in the care and safeguarding of a child’s eyesight is a thorough eye health examination between the ages of three and four years of age. Most parents don't realize the importance of having an eye exam for children, especially when they are  at such a young age, and they often overlook this. However, there is a good deal of critical information that can be determined, even for babies, with a regular eye exam.
A common condition known as amblyopia or lazy eye is one of the key conditions that can be prevented if its underlying cause can be diagnosed and treated early, in children.
The main cause of amblyopia or lazy eye are,
  • One eye being more farsighted than the other. Children are not aware of this because the more normal of the two eyes will simply take over.
  • One eye having more astigmatism. The good eye takes over in this case also.
  • One eye being turned in or out relative to the straight eye. Parents of the child may often detect crossed or deviated eyes.
A casual eye examination will not be able to detect that something is wrong, especially with the first two scenarios, a thorough examination by an Eye Surgery in Dubai, is the only way a proper diagnosis can be made.
Lazy eyes or amblyopia, and the conditions that leads to it, are one-sided in nature and only one eye at a time gets affected. Those with  amblyopia function well, but their depth perception decreases, and this will restrict their choice of daily activities to a certain extent.  An important factor to keep in mind is that a person with good eyesight in only one eye should always wear impact-resistant eyeglasses to protect the good eye.
You may wonder why it is so important to diagnose the conditions that can lead to amblyopia by age three or four.  The central nervous system can be stimulated and enhanced in children until six to eight years old, therefore their vision can be improved and this is very important for a child’s education and development. Unfortunately, children with lazy eye or amblyopia, are not brought into the Eye Clinic in Dubai until the parent realizes that the child can't see poorly out of one eye. If the child is older than seven or eight, there is little that can be done to improve his or her vision. Studies have shown that children who are successfully treated for eye problems show increased performance in school.
The two-step treatment for amblyopia or lazy eyes is relatively straightforward. First, precision-matched eyeglasses are prescribed to fully correct the vision in each eye. This provides clear, crisp images focused on the retina in the back of the eye. These sharp images are then transmitted to the optic nerve to reach the occipital cortex where special vision cells are sufficiently stimulated so that they can develop to their fullest potential.
The second step in treating amblyopia is to selectively patch the better eye. This forces the weaker eye to be used more and this stimulates the specialized vision cells in the brain to develop properly, thereby allowing good vision development in both eyes.
Special dilating drops are used by the Eye Surgery in UAE, to determine the exact prescription for the child. All patient's with amblyopia is unique, so the duration and outcome of the treatment will vary depending on the visual status of each patient.
Some of the behaviors that might be observed in young children with potential vision problems are, frequent eye rubbing, blinking often, squinting, covering or closing one eye and stumbling over small objects.

Digital Eye Strain

The Eye Clinic in Dubai says that with this day and age of Digital technology, it is uncommon to find a person not using a computer, tablet or cell phone as opposed to someone that does. Today, even children are being introduced to digital, interactive screens sooner than ever before, using them to watch movies, play games and even learn in the classroom. For adults, the plethora of interactive screens is more and more present in our lives on a daily basis. One of the best examples is the Google glass, that makes it possible to access the world of digital technology right in front of your eyes!
As more and more people spend more time with Television screens, computers, laptops, Smartphone's and tablets, people are beginning to learn more about the unfavorable effects that these types of tech gadgets and gizmos can have on a person's overall health. Many people use these devices often and sometimes even daily, and find themselves regularly suffering from digital eyestrain, which is medically referred to as Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS).
The Eye Surgery Center in Dubai warns that people who spend time in front of their digital screens for a long period of time is at risk of developing vision problems. If you are someone who is hooked on gadgets and gizmos and is never seen without a Smartphone or a tablet in hand, you may know the first signs and symptoms of digital eye strain. This has caused many people, especially youngsters, who develop vision problems and is said to be the second most frequent computer-related repetitive strain injury.
If you get the feeling that you're tired or your eyes are strained after you have spent a considerable amount of time in front of a screen, then you may be experiencing a few of the common symptoms of digital eye strain. The most common symptoms include:
  • Redness or irritation of the eye
  • Neck pain
  • Back pain
  • Strained muscles
  • Dry eyes
  • Fatigue
  • Headaches
The Eye Surgery in Dubai reiterates that Digital Eye Strain or CVS are caused by the over-use of digital devices with digital screens. When the eyes are constantly having to refocus on these digital images and reposition in order to process content like graphics, text and video, it can cause a lot of strain on the eyes. Also, since digital content is made up of thousands of small pixels, the eyes become stressed and strained when these pixel spaces are too far apart, and the image becomes distorted and complex for the eyes to process
This condition is often a surprise to many people, as they don't know and don't recognize the symptoms. Therefore, very few know how they have this condition. In order to make sure the eyes are kept healthy and comfortable when using digital devices, here are just a few prevention tips given by the Eye Surgery in UAE
  • Practice the Eye Care 20/20/20 concept - For every 20 minutes that is spent looking at a digital device, take a 20 second break to look at an object that is 20 feet away.
  • Keep yourself hydrated - Drinking lots of water will help to prevent dryness of the eyes.
  • Adjust the surrounding area - Make sure to have proper lighting and the screen should be at eye level.
  • Keep the eyes moist - Blink frequently or use an artificial tear drop.

All about Presbyopia

No matter how well you took care of your eyes, as you age few eye conditions may be unavoidable. That is why every eye surgeon in Dubai urges everyone to get their eyes checked up regularly even if we notice an issue or not as the ophthalmologist at the eye clinic in Dubai will be able to identify issues even earlier than we see symptoms.
This eye condition known as Presbyopia usually develops in individuals around the age of 40. The first sign of it is a blurred vision specially when sewing, working, reading or using the computer. Unless corrective lenses are used early these individuals may require eye surgery in Dubai if the condition worsens by leaving it untreated.
Presbyopia affects the near sight in people. Even if you have had no eye conditions in the past, even for people who are already wearing corrective lenses for near sight this condition can be experienced. For people wearing lenses for near sight may suddenly experience that the near vision is still blurred when they put on their usual corrective contact lenses or glasses. This happens when the eye lens starts to stiffen with age and is now less able to adjust and focus to view the environment.
Eye surgery center in Dubai has statistics that in 2005 there were over billion people around the world who were presbyopic. WHO also has stated that out of these billion people around 517 million did not have the corrective lenses/glasses. This is mostly due to the reason that in the rural areas proper eye care is not widely available and is very costly. With more people reaching the mid age it has created a great demand for corrective lenses, eyewear and surgery to help people dealing with presbyopes.
The most common sign or symptom that you have presbyopia is when you find that you need to hold reading materials like magazines, books, newspapers and even hotel menu cards at a good arm’s length to be able to focus on the letters properly. If held at the normal length you may not be able to identify the letters and the whole thing would look blurred.  Also when carrying out tasks like writing or embroidery which requires close focus it can lead to fatigue, eye strain and headaches.
Speak to your eye care center today to understand the causes and how you can treat this condition.

All about Ketatoconus

Any eye clinic in Dubai would have at some time or the other treated patients with various eye conditions including cataracts in Dubai and Keratoconus in Dubai.
Many of these conditions can be treated with lenses and corrective glasses if identified early, but if they are left unattended patients may need eye surgery in Dubai to correct their vision.
Keratoconus is one such eye condition which can even affect the young population as much as the elderly. This eye condition is one in which the middle section of the cornea starts to thin out. This will lead to the cornea made to bulge out to look almost like a cone shape. This will not only affect the eyes proportion but also it can impact the eye sight significantly.
Research is still being done to understand what causes this eye condition. One reason is found to be that frequent rubbing of the eyes can lead to this condition. It is not a common eye condition and in general seen in about one in two thousand people. Blurred vision and distortion are few of the early symptoms of this eye condition. This condition can be controlled and corrected in the early stages with corrective glasses and/or lenses. Frequent checkups will be required to keep track and monitor any changes and improvements as the power of the lens will need to be adjusted with the changes.
Though this eye condition may not lead to complete blindness it should still be diagnosed and treated in time before it can cause legal blindness. The best known treatment for keratoconus is known as cross linking. Eye doctors make use of riboflavin drops to saturate the cornea, which is activated with ultraviolet light. Laser will be used at the end to get the best result from the treatment and get the eye sight restored to their normal functionality and appearance. This will also automatically help to rectify other eye issues.
Another treatment option is the use of contact lenses implantation. This is the task of implanting contact lenses permanently which will correct issues related to focusing. This is a convenient method for individuals who are used to wearing contact lenses, but these individuals can never undergo laser eye surgeries.
Do ring up your eye clinic today to book an appointment if you are experiencing any difference in your vision, it could be something that can be easily treated if diagnosed early.

Causes of Corneal Ulcers

It is easy to understand how important it is to care for the eyes, but do we all take the necessary steps advised to actually take care of them and avoid major eye conditions in the future? Many of the cases in eye surgery center in Dubai are a result of poor care taken for the eyes from young days. While many eye conditions cannot be avoided it is advised to visit an eye clinic in Dubai for regular check-ups to identify any early signs of eye conditions.
Eye surgery in Dubai is common among senior citizens for age related conditions, but few do consult an eye surgeon in Dubai early when faced with conditions that affect their vision. Many conditions can be easily treated if diagnosed early.
Corneal infections and ulcers is a common condition which can be caused by infections. This leads to a sore or erosion in the eye cornea which can affect your vision. The causes of this condition are mainly infections through a parasite, virus, bacteria or fungi. Fungal Keratitis is common in people who have met with a corneal injury from a plant material. It is also a cause for anyone with an immune system that is suppressed.
Herpes simplex keratitis on the other hand is a viral infection which is more serious. It can lead to repeat attacks triggered by stress, conditions related to impairments in the immune system and exposure to sunlight.
Ulcers can also be caused by simple conditions like foreign bodies, dry eyes, allergic eye disease, scratches on the eye surface, eyelids that don’t close completely, etc.  Even contact lenses, specially if worn overnight can also lead to corneal ulcers.
The general symptoms experienced by patients are white patch on the cornea, hazy or blurry vision, itching and discharge, sensitivity to light, red or bloodshot eyes, etc.
If you experience any of these conditions speak to your health care specialist today. Various tests and examinations will be done to diagnose the condition. Refraction test, dry eye test, slit-lamp examination, visual acuity, keratometry, testing scrapings from the eye ulcer are few of the common examinations that you may be advised to take.

What Causes Eye Allergies?

Eye allergies are a common complaint by many patients who visit an eye clinic in Dubai. Common eye allergies will not require the attention of an eye surgeon in Dubai. Ophthalmologists rarely have to refer patients with eye allergies for an eye surgery in Dubai as it is usually only irritating more than being dangerous to the eye sight.
Ophthalmologist at eye surgery center in Dubai always ensures that they carry out a careful diagnosis of what is causing the allergy before suggesting the best treatment option. The first symptom of an allergy can be itchy eyes. Allergies if left untreated can lead to visual problems through scarring of the cornea. While many patients try over the counter options for various eye conditions it is always wise to seek the advice of a medical practitioner. Treatment option depends on whether the condition is mild or serious. For mild conditions of red eyes and itchiness a topical decongestant would be effective. Mast-cell stabilizer would be the best for a long term treatment as it is safe and highly effective. Any steroid treatment should only be used with the guidance of the ophthalmologist.
Eye allergies usually occur in line with another health condition like hay fever or dermatitis. Various cosmetic products and medications can also cause eye allergies. Sometimes eye irritations as confused with eye allergies as the symptoms are somewhat consistent for both.   Eyes are more likely to be target by allergies as they come in direct contact with the environment when the eyes are opened. There is no filtering system like the hair found in the nose.
While not everyone will get eye allergies, it is more common in the people who have a history of atopic dermatitis or allergic rhinitis. Also if they have a strong family history of allergies it can be inherited. Usually any signs of eye allergies will show before the individual reaches 30.
Burning, runny and itchy eyes are the common symptoms of an eye allergy. It can be followed by redness and inflammation. The eyelids could swell up and sometimes close completely. These conditions can also lead to light sensitivity. It is common that both eyes are affected during an allergic reaction, unless only one eye had been affected.
Remember to always consult an ophthalmologist for a second opinion before you decide on a over the counter medicine. These are your eyes and you cannot risk damaging them by using the wrong products at any cost.

Eye Conditions Caused by Diabetics

We all understand how important our eye sight is for us. Without being able to see, we would not have been able to achieve most of the things we have accomplished up to date. But with age our eye sight may not remain as good as it was in the beginning. Any eye clinic in Dubai recommends a regular eye check to be able to identify any issues early at which stage treatments can easily be carried out.
Sometimes eye conditions may be caused because of other health issues like diabetics. Any eye surgeon in Dubai would have handled a cataract surgery. Sometimes cataract eye conditions are also caused by diabetes.
Ebsaar is a well know eye surgery center in Dubai which has handled many diabetics related eye conditions in Dubai. Commonly the blood vessels in the eyes get damaged when the level of blood sugar goes high above the normal level. This leads to retinopathy, the longer an individual has diabetics the more likely he or she is to get this condition.
If the condition is left untreated it can lead to the growth of new blood vessels over the retina. This can lead to the development of scar tissue, which will pull the retina of the eye away. This condition (retinal detachment) can eventually lead to blindness which even Eye surgery in Dubai may not be able to rectify 100%.
Another eye condition known as glaucoma can also be caused as a cause of diabetics when any blood vessels start to grown on the eye iris. Research has shown that it is 25 times more likely for patients with diabetics to lose their vision than those without diabetics.
Diabetic retinopathy is a common condition among many diabetic patients, but not all would be faced with this eye condition. This may not show any early symptoms and you may not see any changes in the vision initially, but once it develops it can lead to be complete blindness. One of the early symptoms would be floaters. Difficulties in reading and having to look at the book or screen very closely can also be early symptoms of fluid build-up in the retina.
If you or one of your family members has diabetics consult your eye doctor today for a check-up and early diagnosis.

All about Detached Retina

Ebsaar is one eye clinic in Dubai which provides all eye care solutions under one roof. With the increasing risks to the eyes in the recent years related to environmental pollutions and use of modern devices from young ages the eye surgeon in Dubai have had to deal with new cases which were very rare in the past years.
Eye surgery in Dubai have advanced with new technology and many procedures are carried out within a day as outpatient procedures. Many serious eye conditions can be prevented with regular checkups and early detection.
Detached Retina is a common condition which may require Eye surgery in UAE. As the name of the condition clearly mentions it is when the retina is pulled away from the back of the eye which is its normal position. Retina plays the key role in sending visual images through the optic nerve to the brain. If the retina is detached the vision can get blurred. Unless it is treated it can lead to blindness. Symptoms of a pulled retina are flashing lights, veil or grey curtain moving across the vision, floaters, etc. These symptoms can be cause of some other reason, but it is advised to seek the consult of a ophthalmologist to confirm.
This condition can be caused with age. The eyes are filled with a collagen clear gel known as vitreous between the lens and the retina. The vitreous usually pulls away from the retina with no issue. But with age when it tries to pull away it may pull too hard and cause a tear in the retina which can lead to retinal detachment. Fluid then could pass in by the retinal tear and completely pull away the retina from the back.
There are many conditions that can lead to retinal detachment. Glaucoma, nearsightedness, trauma, family history, cataract surgery are few of the common reasons. If it is diagnosed early when it is only a tear in the retina it can be treated by laser treatment or by cryotherapy treatment which will help to set the retina back in the eye. These treatments generally cause no discomfort. If the retina is totally detached surgery may be required to return it to its place at the back of the eye.
If you like to learn more about retinal detachment or if you are at high risk contact your ophthalmologist today for a check-up.

AMD Treatment Dubai

Any condition related to the eye can be a cause for great concern, regardless of the severity of the problem. There are a few common eye diseases that affect people over the age of fifty-five one of which is macular degeneration. It is sometimes referred to as AMD or Age-related macular degeneration.

AMD is responsible for a third of the world population of blindness, affecting the back area of the eye, the macula which is a part of the retina. This part allows us to see clarity and distinguish between features and details. When this part degenerates, our vision will become blurred and fuzzy. Complete blindness is a very rare occurrence although it is not to be disregarded either.

Macular degeneration can affect one or both eyes at varying speeds. Some individuals will notice a gradual loss in the clarity of their vision over time, and some will notice their quality of vision depreciating much faster than expected. If you have a family history of macular degeneration, it is best to have your eyes tested for the condition regularly at Ebsaar Eye Surgery Centre as regularly as frequently as every two years. Habits such as smoking and excessive alcohol consumption could cause the condition to progress faster and prematurely than expected and it is therefore advised that those with the risk of AMD, avoid these substances.

People who are affected by the condition find it difficult to drive and recognize familiar faces. Detailing might be lost and instead you may see blobs of the object or person rather than a clear image. Depending on the severity of the condition, your eye surgeon will decide on an appropriate treatment plan for you. This may include dietary changes, lifestyle changes, prescription glasses or surgery. Although surgery is usually the last resort as it involves the very delicate section of the eye.

Regular eye exams at Ebsaar Eye Surgery Centre can help you identify the risks factors present and help you decide on early treatment and prevention. An eye exam at the Dubai Eye Clinic by Dr. Hani Sakla, will be a thorough examination to identify a few things pertaining to the health of your eyes and vision. A detailed eye exam will include some of the following:
  • The Dilation test allows your eye specialist to look inside the eye. You will be given an eye drop that will widen the pupil just enough for the doctor to look inside the eye using a special magnifying instrument. This will allow him a clear view of the macula and the optic nerve. Should degeneration be present, it will be obvious with this test.
  • Your visual acuity is measured using a general eye chart. Your vision clarity is measured at various distances allowing the doctor to stipulate the AMD risks that you may have.
  • The last test is where a natural dye is injected into the eye to check if the eye has any damaged blood vessels. The dye usually clears out within a few hours.
  • The Amsler grid is used to track changes present in your central vision.
The health of your macular can be determined with the help of these tests. Early detection of AMD will help you maintain healthy vision in Dubai and possibly prolong the onset of Age-related Macular Degeneration. If you are above the age of fifty-five, or have a family history of AMD, or are a heavy smoker it is best to have the AMD tests done regularly which will help you maintain your vision for longer.

Astigmatism Dubai

Astigmatism is a common eye condition sometimes present at birth and sometimes is a result of injury or other eye diseases. It is a physical disfigurement of the eye’s surface causing blurred vision. The condition is identified by the absence of a smooth curvature of the cornea or lens. The rough surface causes a person’s vision to become distorted and inaccurate.

Valleys and peaks will be present on the cornea or the lens. The unevenness displaces light improperly away from the retina, which causes vision to become distorted and unclear. The condition is not worsened by a person’s life style, and therefore contrary to popular belief, reading into the night or watching a lot of television has no effect on the disease.

Astigmatism causes other symptoms too. Eyestrain, headaches, and bad vision. These symptoms are common with other refractive errors such as near and farsightedness, and hence goes undetected until an optometrist or an ophthalmologist examines the eye. If caught early, mild forms of Astigmatism is corrected with specially made glasses or contact lenses.

There are two types of Astigmatism, one that affects the cornea, and the other that affects the lens of the eye. As it would be understood, it is easier to treat corneal astigmatism than it is to treat Lenticular Astigmatism with external corrective measures. LASIK surgery Dubai, would be more suited for treating the latter.

The eyes are meant to have smooth perfectly rounded surfaces without abnormal shapes or structures to refract light on to the retina properly. Light beams reaching elsewhere is not detected by the optic nerve. When the cornea or lens presents steeper ridges and low-lying valleys, similar to what a scoop of ice cream looks like, it will distort a person’s vision immensely.

Rigid contact lenses are more effective in treating corneal astigmatism, as they are hard and force the imperfections into a smooth curved shape. Prescription glasses counteract blurred vision, and a combination of glasses and rigid contact lenses, will see the condition improve. Astigmatism is a physical disfigurement of the eye and therefore corrective eye surgery is able to give immediate results to patients.

Astigmatism is diagnosed by an eye doctor using a Kerotoscope; a device that measures the orientation of the refracted light. Once the diagnosis is complete, it will be up to the patient to decide the preferred method of treatment based on the Doctors advice.

Ebsaar provides all types of treatment for this common eye condition from corrective glasses, contact lenses, and LASIK Surgery in Dubai. If astigmatism causes severe blurred or distorted vision hampering normal daily activities even with glasses, LASIK surgery is able to remove the disfigurements present on the cornea and lens, reversing refractive error. LASIK surgery is now considered one of the most trusted and safe eye treatment options for various visual conditions.

What is an Eye exam in Dubai?

An eye exam is full evaluation of your vision and eyes. It is different from seeing an optician who will only check your visual acuity. A full eye exam is done by either an optometrist or an ophthalmologist, using numerous techniques and devices to determine the health of both your eyes.

The eyes are of paramount importance to live a carefree life, but they are also easily affected by internal and external factors. Diabetes, high blood pressure, a family history of glaucoma or age related macular degeneration, and your lifestyle determines the health of your eyes and vision.

It is important that you see your ophthalmologist, or optometrist regularly to detect and avoid serious conditions related to the eye. For young children, its best to have them tested at least twice before they turn six: once at the age of two and then again before they attend grade one. Teenagers will need to get an eye exam in Dubai once every two years, and adults every four or five years. People over the age of 60 should have a yearly exam as they are prone to age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and glaucoma.

Regular eye exams helps diagnose conditions early, and may even help you avoid complicated surgery later on.

A general eye exam will check eyesight, peripheral vision, colour blindness, examine the structure of the eye for any abnormalities, and for any sign of retinal disorders, AMD, cataracts, and glaucoma.

A paediatrician will check the vision of infants and toddlers and look for common problems like lazy eye, crossed eyes, and squints. It is advised to do a follow up examination by the time he or she reaches five years of age. Children are prone to depreciating eyesight, especially if they are constantly on the computer, playing video games and watching TV. Furthermore, most children are not fond of fruits and vegetables, which contain most or all the nutrients needed for good vision.

Teenagers who use laptops and computers, play video games, or play outdoors in the sun without protective eyewear are exposed to ultra violet radiation, which damages the eye significantly over time. It is good practice to check the eyes of teenagers more frequently like once every two years.

Whether you wear prescription glasses or not, adults should have their eyes checked every four or five years. Conditions like high blood pressure, sugar, and cholesterol affect the health of your eyes and should any of these conditions be present, your eyes must be checked more often.

Your eye exam will consist of different stages where your vision, colour vision, outer surface, and inner structures are systematically checked for any abnormalities. Each eye is checked individually and your Dubai eye doctor discusses the results with you in detail. Should you require treatment or need preventive care to avoid problems, you eye doctor will relate the options available to you.

If you were contact lenses or prescription glasses, bring them along to your appointment, as your doctor will confirm their correct prescription.
