All about Presbyopia

No matter how well you took care of your eyes, as you age few eye conditions may be unavoidable. That is why every eye surgeon in Dubai urges everyone to get their eyes checked up regularly even if we notice an issue or not as the ophthalmologist at the eye clinic in Dubai will be able to identify issues even earlier than we see symptoms.
This eye condition known as Presbyopia usually develops in individuals around the age of 40. The first sign of it is a blurred vision specially when sewing, working, reading or using the computer. Unless corrective lenses are used early these individuals may require eye surgery in Dubai if the condition worsens by leaving it untreated.
Presbyopia affects the near sight in people. Even if you have had no eye conditions in the past, even for people who are already wearing corrective lenses for near sight this condition can be experienced. For people wearing lenses for near sight may suddenly experience that the near vision is still blurred when they put on their usual corrective contact lenses or glasses. This happens when the eye lens starts to stiffen with age and is now less able to adjust and focus to view the environment.
Eye surgery center in Dubai has statistics that in 2005 there were over billion people around the world who were presbyopic. WHO also has stated that out of these billion people around 517 million did not have the corrective lenses/glasses. This is mostly due to the reason that in the rural areas proper eye care is not widely available and is very costly. With more people reaching the mid age it has created a great demand for corrective lenses, eyewear and surgery to help people dealing with presbyopes.
The most common sign or symptom that you have presbyopia is when you find that you need to hold reading materials like magazines, books, newspapers and even hotel menu cards at a good arm’s length to be able to focus on the letters properly. If held at the normal length you may not be able to identify the letters and the whole thing would look blurred.  Also when carrying out tasks like writing or embroidery which requires close focus it can lead to fatigue, eye strain and headaches.
Speak to your eye care center today to understand the causes and how you can treat this condition.
